Years 5 and 6
Attenborough class.
Mrs Morgan is our teacher.
Mrs Thurgood is our support teacher three days a week.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday.
Below you will find a summary of learning to include home learning for this term.
We really value reading at Gorefield Primary Academy, so please help your child to shine by hearing them read four times a week and discussing with them what they have read. Using sentence starters such as: why, how, how do you know and what makes you think that... really help to open up discussion and to make the children think and make inferences about what they have read.
Although we no longer have spelling tests, the children are working through the Year 5 and 6 Statutory Word list as well as have weekly spelling lessons based around spelling patterns. We use the CUSP curriculum to plan our spelling lessons. Pupils are encouraged to use these words, alongside the powerful vocabulary of Mrs Wordsmith, in both their English and cross-curricular work.
The rapid recall of the multiplication tables, and the inverse, is really important in our maths work, so rehearsing them will really help. The children can all access TT Rockstars at home with their own log-in and also access Mathsframe.co.uk to enjoy maths games and a Multiplication Times tables check. Please encourage your child to practise – rapid recall of times table facts will really help your child on their Maths journey.
